May 2021 Life Update (or a good month that turns into a bad month that finishes as a great month. Rollercoaster? Yes.)

Greetings from Gainesville!

Wow, this month had a lot of ups and downs. It feels like a lot has happened, and also not very much has happened.

I took a trip out to Colorado at the end of April and beginning of May to update supporters about my new role here at Adventures in Missions, and to raise more support, as I now live in Georgia, not Cambodia.  The trip went well, and I was able to meet with a lot of friends, family, and church members and tell them about Adventures and where I see God calling my life in the future.

A few days after coming back to Georgia, I started getting some allergy/cold symptoms, which wasn’t all that surprising, but soon there were other symptoms as well: fatigue, headaches, brain fog, and a little bit of dizziness here and there. Then I heard that several people from church had tested positive for covid.  Not knowing who they were or if I had been in contact with them, I decided it would be best if I also got tested, and not go into work. Lo and behold, the test came back positive.

While waiting for the test to come back, I also found out that my Grandma had passed away. Even though we did all know this was coming and she’s now with the Lord, it was hard to not be able to go to the funeral, and see all my dad’s side of the family, especially since I also missed my grandma on my mom’s side because I was in Cambodia. I was able to watch the funeral and see some pictures after the fact, thanks to both my sisters.   I’m also super thankful for my friends, who refused to let me be alone, and were able to keep me company virtually. While it’s not the same as face to face time, it meant a lot to me.  They are a blessing that I am so thankful for.

I got back to work on May 19th. There have only been a few days where I’ve been able to actually work a full day, because I am still having some effects lingering from covid, mainly fatigue, brain fog, and headaches, but they continue to get better day by day, and cutting caffeine helped a lot as well.

I am also very excited to be starting my masters degree in biblical counseling soon! My first class starts on June 7th. I’m a little nervous, since I haven’t taken a single class since I graduated college six years ago. I’m excited for the new challenge that this brings and to move forward towards God’s calling on my life.
